Bengali annaprashan (rice ceremony) for 6 months old A, Delhi

6 Months old baby girl traditional bengali rice eating ceremony held in Delhi

A had her Annaprashan or Mukhe Bhaat (literal meaning – rice in your mouth, also known as the Bengali rice ceremony) sometime back.

Annaprashan is done when babies complete 6 months and solid food is to be introduced to them. And Bengalis have a grand way of celebrating the same.

A's grandma meticulously planned and executed the event. It was held in Oh! Calcutta (Greater Kailash). On display was a big thaali with assorted traditional bengali food that was to be offered to the baby. It started with grandma, followed by he rest of the family members and friends.

A seemed to have thoroughly enjoyed the event as she went about relishing her meal.

Here are the highlights from the event.
