Cross-Cultural Wedding Photography in Delhi
Facebook brought my school friend G and me back together after many years, and I was overjoyed when she asked me to cover her wedding. The chemistry between her and her fiance S was obvious from the start, and that made for some lovely frames. Both of them are doctors, working in the US.
This was a cross-cultural wedding, a fusion of North Indian and Telugu traditions. It began with a DJ dance party, where the bride, groom and family all danced together, full of energy. This was followed by their getting-ready shots the next morning.
Through the ceremony, I kept my camera ready for candid shots of family members too, true to my candid, photojournalistic style of wedding photography. For the couple portraits, G and S smilingly posed for me, though I later found out they were cracking jokes at my expense the whole time.
The pheras brought both traditions together beautifully and I made sure to document every ritual, in keeping with my documentary style approach.
The wedding was held at The Panchshila Rendezvous banquet in Malviya Nagar, a gorgeous venue with lovely natural light.
Bangalore is where I am based now and I bring this same candid, photojournalistic approach to weddings here, while continuing to cover Delhi NCR and Gurugram.
