A wonderfully done decor, all of it DIY, along with a happy baby, made this birthday celebration such a joy to photograph. Every little detail, from the handmade backdrop to the small table setups, had clearly been put together with a lot of care.
The event was held at a party venue in Dwarka, nearly a month before Covid hit us in 2020. That also makes it one of my last birthday shoots before the lockdown changed everything. Looking back now, there is something extra special about this set, a reminder of how normal, packed celebrations used to look.
A was happy right from the word go, posing and beaming at the camera as if he already knew this day was going to matter. That kind of natural comfort in front of the lens makes for the best first birthday photography, since nothing needs to be forced.
