Outdoor Kids Photography on the Beach in Goa
Shooting my own 3 year old has always been a challenge. She would not listen or sit in one place, no matter how much I tried to convince her. Anyone who has done a toddler photoshoot knows exactly what I mean.
So when we went on our family trip to Goa, I decided to stop fighting it and just let her be. We took her to the beach and let her explore it her own way. From picking up sea shells to running towards the waves and then getting scared of them a second later, it turned into two hours well spent. No forced poses. No sitting still. Just a real kid being herself on a real beach.
This is honestly what I love most about candid kids photography. When you take away the pressure of getting the "perfect shot" and just follow the child around, you end up with images that actually feel like them. That's the real difference between posed kids photoshoots and lifestyle kids photography. The open sand, the waves and the golden light did half the work on their own, the same way natural light does in any good outdoor toddler photoshoot.
If you are planning your own beach trip with a toddler, my advice is simple. Pick a time when the light is soft, ideally early morning or late afternoon, keep the session short and let your child lead the way. Some of the best candid childhood photography happens when you stop trying to control the moment and just document it as it unfolds.
