Aarya Samaj Wedding Photography in Delhi: Rajj Gayi Henna, Part II
It was genuinely hard to pick just 70 images from this wedding. R & H were such fun to shoot and the joy they shared through every function made my job that much harder, the mark of a truly memorable candid wedding photography session.
The celebrations started with the mehndi function, with henna being applied on the bride while everyone sang and laughed through the evening. This was followed by the engagement, where I got some lovely couple portraits.
The haldi that followed was full of fun, with family members smearing haldi on the bride and groom and everyone getting a little messy in the best way possible, the kind of pre-wedding function where a photojournalistic approach really comes alive.
On the wedding day, I started with the bride and groom's getting-ready portraits, followed by a baraat full of energy, with the groom dancing along with his relatives and friends.
Through the day, I kept my camera ready for candid family photography, along with some beautiful couple portraits captured amid all the chaos.
The pheras, following Aarya Samaj traditions, were simple yet meaningful, and I made sure to document every ritual as it happened, true to the spirit of documentary wedding photography.
Bangalore is where I am based now, and I bring this same candid, photojournalistic approach to weddings here, while continuing to cover Delhi NCR and Gurugram.
