Haryanvi Wedding Photography in Delhi: A Winter Wedding
I covered Ankur and Suchitra's Haryanvi wedding in Delhi and every function made it a joy to shoot. All their wedding functions were held in Delhi and the whole celebration came together beautifully, the kind that makes for some of the best candid wedding photography.
It started with everyone rocking the DJ floor. The dance floor was full right from the start and both families were out there dancing together, no one holding back. As a wedding photographer in Delhi NCR, nights like these are always my favourite to shoot. Suchitra's pre-wedding rituals were equally lovely to photograph. She looked beautiful throughout, with her family gathered around her through each one. I also got her getting-ready portraits, which turned out to be some of the nicest bridal photography from the day.
The baraat brought its own kind of energy. The groom was dancing along with his relatives and friends and the noise and excitement built up as they made their way to the venue, exactly the kind of baraat photography that makes North Indian wedding so much fun to cover.
Through the rituals, I kept an eye out for candid family photography too, the small moments of laughter and conversation that often get missed in the bigger rush of the day.
It was a proper winter wedding, and the pheras took place in the cold. Suchitra sat through them so gracefully in her lehenga. Later came the joota chupai, always one of the most fun parts of a North Indian wedding to photograph, with both families laughing and teasing each other through the whole thing.
What stayed with me the most was how both families were enjoying every single ritual together. With some couples, you can tell that they get your style and that is exactly how I felt working with Ankur and Suchitra. It is a precious feeling for any documentary wedding photographer.
I am now based in Bangalore, and I bring this same candid, documentary approach to South Indian weddings there, while continuing to cover weddings across Delhi NCR and Gurugram.
